Calling all Athletes! The CDA Marathon on Memorial Day Weekend just got more exciting with the Inaugural Murph Challenge. Over the past decade, in many tactical fitness circles, members have been doing the Memorial Day Murph. “Murph” is a classic CrossFit workout known as a Hero WOD. Hero WOD’s are created by CrossFit to honor the men and women that have fallen in the line of duty. This one specifically honors Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in action. 

Join the Community Murph Challenge with us in the CDA this year! Athletes will be chip-timed and receive a Finisher Shirt!

100 Pull-Ups
200 Push-Ups
300 Air Squats
1 mile Run

Murph Challenge Info

  • All athletes registered for the Murph Community Challenge will compete on Saturday, May 25th at McEuen Park.
  • Challenge starts at 10:00am in McEuen Park with waves going every 30 mins, last wave 2:30pm 
  • Check-In and bib pick up is from 9am to 10am
  • The Murph Challenge will be broken into four groups: Elite, Open, Scaled, and Foundation
    • Register where you think your ability level is and compete in waves based on estimated finish times. 
      • Elite Group: Athletes wear a 20/14 lbs vest (Bring Your Own Vest or use one of ours)
      • Open Group: Complete all the events and reps in order of the Murph Workout 
      • Scaled: reps are broken up as needed for pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats 
      • Foundation: Half the reps of pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats
